I have decent enough grades to become a finalist, I think. But if I get a C semester grade before January (or whenever they choose the finalists), will that hurt my chances?

Tommy your guidance counselor has to turn in the paperwork in October. NM will not see any grades that you earn after that. They might not even see first quarter grades if your GC sends out the info before the quarter ends.

Well, that’s certainly good news, since I just completely blanked out and missed a huge assignment in microecon… :p

I don’t think schools include quarter grades on transcripts so even 1st quarter grades won’t likely get sent.

College may seem a long way off when youre in your first year of high school, but those grades will affect your GPA and class rank. And I dont think you can slack off at the end of senior year.

^^^

That’'s true for college admissions, but the OP’s question was about senior year GPA and making NMF.

My Son’s GC told him that the school will send his transtrcript as it is now which includes his current progress report. He is worried about the B that he has now. Is it going to have a big impact on his application?

According to their website, your school is supposed to report any downward trends anytime in the school year. One C shouldn’t be a problem if your other stats are solid.

Good heavens… NO. Do you really think that all the NMFs have “all A’s”??? no way. Many have Bs and some will have a C or two.
