Will seniorits hurt in transfer admissions?

I'm going to be a college freshman this fall. If I end up deciding to transfer (not planning to at the moment since I love my school), will second semester senior grades be heavily considered?

I made all A's and A+'s and was ranked at the top of my class through the first semester of senior year. I was basically told by colleges and everyone around me that I could chill out and get B's and that a C+ wouldn't be bad either, so I made a few B's and did end up with one C+ in an AP class (I ended up scoring 5's on the AP tests that I took for these classes, though).

If I want to transfer, will these grades hurt? What if I get a 4.0 first semester of college? There's a certain program at a top Ivy that I'm really interested in right now (that isn't available at my school - I've only started to have a heavy interest in this field this summer) so I've been considering a possible transfer but since top schools have incredibly low transfer acceptance rates I'm not sure if a C+ and a few B's due to senioritis will kill me. Everything else (previous grades, test scores, hopefully first semester senior grades) is stellar, and I am certain that I could well articulate the reasons I would want to transfer.

So could a C+ and a few B's b/c of senioritis kill a transfer app?

If so I wouldn't want to waste my time (and money) applying.

While the senioritis certainly doesn’t help, getting a 4.0 in college would far outweigh that. Your college grades become the most important thing in transfer admissions. Best of luck at your current school and to maybe transferring as well!

It will only hurt you if you decide to transfer after one year or apply to a school that considers it such as an Ivy.
