Will senioritis screw me over?

In high school, I got good grades, had good test scores, and excellent extracurriculars - that is, until second semester senior year. Second semester senior year, I completely slacked off and got a 3.2 GPA with a C in an AP class. Still, my overall GPA is still decently high because of the other semesters of hard work I'd put in.

I'm now entering college but also entertaining the possibility of applying to transfer to some private, selective schools. The school that I'm attending is well-known, so prestige isn't a reason, though there are many other reasons. I know that it is extremely difficult to get into these schools, especially as a transfer student, but I figure it's worth a shot. My question is, will my second semester senior year grades bring down my application a lot, especially with a C? Assuming I can pull off good grades in college - which is, of course, something that I'll have to work my butt off for - will those grades be undermined by my senioritis grades? I know that admission is by no means guaranteed; I'm just wondering if my grades due to senioritis will pull me down from a decent/average chance to a below-average chance.

Thank you!

If you’re talking about apply as a soph transfer, then yes, your final HS grades are not going to help you. When you apply you will have completed 1 sem of college work, so your HS record and test scores will be weighted more.

For a jr transfer, your HS grades will matter less than what you’ve done in college.
