will student accepted last year help my chances

I know schools choose to admit students who will succeed. A friend of mine was accepted to Hopkins last year, and I applied this year. My score is toward the lower end of the middle 50 % so will the fact they accepted a similar applicant from the same school be a factor? Obviously her acceptance will not get me in, but will it help an on the fence applicant? My high school doesn't send many kids to top schools at all. Maybe 1-5 per yer.

Thank you.

having a previous admit means the college is aware of your school’s offerings, which is good. But you’ll be admitted/rejected based on your own strengths. The “boost” is not there – all it means is that the college won’t be guessing as much if it rejects/accepts you…

ok. i know that my acceptance hinges on my stats… i just didn’t know if it would help or not. thanks!
