Will taking a regular English course ruin my chances?

I am currently a sophomore at a fairly large high school. Last year, I was ranked 13 out 662 students, so I guess i did quite well. This year, I decided to take AP World, Honors Chem, Honors Algebra II, and Honors English II. School has just recently started and I am already considering dropping English II Honors due to already having 4-5 hours of homework a night. I know this might sound whiny, but I want some time to play recreational soccer, prepare for football next year, and volunteer. Will dropping this class and not taking AP English ruin my chances at mid level UC's and other high ranking universities?

This is like asking, “Will having an SAT of 2050 instead of 2100 ruin my chances?”

No, it’s not going to ruin your chances. It’s a very small part of your resume. One obviously looks better. You still need to be taking some English course. It will be questionable if your transcript denotes that you dropped down, but hopefully it is early enough in the semester that it won’t be shown on your transcript.

No. Get some perspective.

Lol, isn’t it easier to see a computer screen in the dark?

Yes it will sorry

I’ll have to ask my counselor, but I’ll just be taking regular English. I just don’t want to jeopardize my future success by dropping one class.

Tough it out. That isn’t so much work…
