well? does anybody have any inputs?

If you've already done all of your standardized testing, it may look like you're just wasting your time in high school.

if ur done with it all i dont understand why u would even want to.

NO, I took the class prior to getting a 2130 on my March SAT last year.

nah its fine
a lot of kids take it
it doesnt mean theyre gonna look at u any differently if u hadnt. in fact it looks good that u worked for it because chances are u woulda gotten lower if u hadnt taken the class
anyway it shows initiative, and thats fine...

are you sure that alot of kids take SAT classes?

yea
i didnt and i did just fine but i got friends who took them and did well and i dont look at my self as any better then them for not takin it
i think if i had planned it out better i coulda taken one and have gotten better than i already did

In one Fairfield County school system, the free SAT prep course is disguised as a Latin/Greek course that focuses on English vocabulary.

Only prep schools offer SAT classes here. I don't think any public HS offer any SAT classes.

It really doesn't matter. It's just one less AP or honors class.

Taking an SAT test prep course is just like taking any other elective, as long as you complete all of your college prep required courses. Don't stress over it.

But wouldn't the college admission officers view me negatively because I "cheated" and studied for the SAT whereas another student might get the same score but he studied on his own?

Not at all. People pay as much as $800 to take a SAT prep course at Kaplan, Princeton Review or elsewhere. Adcoms are well aware that students study just to get a better score.

The SAT isn't a measurement of your academic intelligence, but of how well you prep for the SAT.
definitely a discussion for another thread...

there is nothing wrong with studying. many many students take sat prep courses. you are not cheating. it's all good.

No, it won't look bad if you take an SAT class as an actual course.

You know what will, though? If you take an SAT class as an actual course but then don't get 750+ on each component on the SAT.

Choose wisely.

but some people can prep better than others. some can pay for tutors and great classes, others can only borrow a book from the library.

and some of us didn't prep at all haha

I think taking classes for SATs is such a waste. Unless you spend major bucks and find a good tutor, those classes are useless. I know a few friends who took the classes and non did better than me. Those that did all studied by themselves. My theory on this is that by studying yourself, you have a better idea regarding your strength and weaknesses. Thus you are able to bring the best out of your abilities instead of just do a one size fits all.

I didn't even know that schools offered SAT prep classes!! My school did an ACT prep before school two days a week a few years ago, but the improvment in scores was only 2 or 3 points, so the teachers felt that it was not worth it to continue. I wish that I could have had a tutor or take a course...I am the one who buys 5 prep books by different brands but never ends up going through all of them completley.

wow..so what do you do in your school's sat class? does your teacher give out homework assignments that are straight off the prep test?

actually, here's the thing: the class is actually a half-year course. From beginning of school year to December, I have sociology. From January to end of school year, I have SAT class. This SAT class is such a waste because my fellow classmates who are also in the class are all retards. So in order to accomodate for everyone, the teacher has to "slow" everything down and explain simple problems for everyone.
