Will taking half days be looked down upon?

I don't know if this a common thing among other high schools, but at mine you can take 6 or 7 classes your senior year instead of 8 (alternating block schedule), as long as you have a job or are doing duel enrollment at the CC (I'm doing both.)

I want to take only 7 classes because I've exhausted all the good electives at my school, and if I took 8 classes, I'd be wasting an hour and a half every other day doing either TA or Advanced Cooking (blah!). But I don't want to come off as lazy my senior year. I'm only going to be taking 3 AP classes because I just couldn't handle AP Calculus and AP Bio at the same time, they are the two hardest AP classes my school offers. I'd rather take 3 and do well than 4 and get B's.

What do you think? Will this be looked down upon as being lazy? Or will my job, CC class, and volunteering make up for it? BTW I'm not aiming for any Ivy Leagues, just small selective LACs here on the West Coast :) Thank you!

7 classes at many schools is a full schedule and then some. How will they know that it's a half-day at your school? It's still rigorous.

Colleges get like an overview of you school I think, so they might know. Don't stress out, you are fine.

They'll know because looking at my transcript, I've taken 8 classes a year every year :P It's very true tho, a lot of my friends at other high schools only have 6 classes a year and have to come early or stay late for 7.

I'm still curious what other people think, so bump :)

Is this a serious question?

Your dual enrollment will be looked upon far more favorably than Advanced Cooking, for sure. You should be more than fine taking only 7 classes, don't worry about it. You are a senior, after all. =)

There are seniors at my school that take three classes. You'll be fine.
