Our college admission advisor suggested my son to cancel his registered SAT subject Tests in August, since that will negatively impact his image in college admission process. The reason given was that, there are so many kids haven’t taken the main SAT test yet.
Want to confirm from experts before we cancel, and we appreciate any suggestion and advice.
What? That makes no sense to me.
If your child has schools on the list that recommend subject tests, take them if offered.
I wouldn’t worry about this. Yes, in some areas students are having a hard time signing up for fall exams, but by this advisor’s logic, students who are taking the regular SAT for the second time will have a bad image as they might be taking a slot away from someone else. Hopefully everyone who wants to will get signed up for either the SAT or ACT sometime this fall.
That said, clearly the SAT subject tests will be taken by far fewer students this year and are not expected by many schools. Due to cancellations so far, my teen has given up on the idea of getting a good second subject test score and will take the regular SAT for a second time instead.
If my “college admissions advisor” told me this, I’d stop using him/her.
