Hello, I am transferring this summer to ASU online, this is my first bachelor’s degree. Yesterday I was filling out my FAFSA, but at the end of the application, they were asking me about how much money I had in my checking/savings accounts. I currently have almost 7000 but about 5000, I am going to spend in a car because it is necessary to commute to my work, and I am going to need 1000 to spend on a new computer because I need a powerful computer for web/graphic design. In the end, I am going to have about 1000 dollars in my bank account. I haven’t bought the car because I need to get my driver’s licence first and I haven’t purchased the computer yet because I know there are discounts for students only and I want to take advantage of the student discount. What could happen if I just filled in 1000? Is this considered fraud? Is it possible to just take out the money I am going to need so I don’t have to lie? or is the amount I have in my account going to affect the aid I get at all? Please somebody help me, I don’t know what to do!
