Will these extra circumstances help me get into Upenn Wharton?

My dream for college is the BPE Program at NYU but I am equally interested in Upenn Wharton. If I got into both, I don't know what i would do at all. But from what I understand is that Wharton is so astronomically hard to get into, I might not have to worry about it. But I think I have a few advantages on my resume but I'm not sure if they make any difference.

So here are a couple of things i think i have that many applicants to Wharton might not have that i am hoping are to my advantage. A simple yes or no or explanation will help

1 - I live in Pennsylvania
2 - I don't have to apply for financial aid if it hurts my chances.
3 - Through my father, I know some very affluent alumni of Upenn and Wharton along with some very affluent people in general that can write letters of recommendation.
4 - Along with entering my senior year 2nd in my class, pending no injuries i will graduate with 12 varsity letters, 4 years of job experience, Class treasurer, and officer in clubs like FBLA, Key Club, TARS (which i founded), Student Council, and Foreign Language. Also years in various community service programs and have attended educational programs such as People to people and Future Leaders of America.

(I don't plan to get into my academics and such because, I'm not asking you to chance me. I would just like to know if these 4 things improve my application and if they are at all out of the ordinary.) Sorry if your reading this twice, i posted it in the college search category of this forum and then thought "that was kinda stupid" and put it in what i though is a much more fitting part of the forum.

1 -no because they probably have enough geographic representation of the area
2- no because they are “need blind”
3- yes if they donate. Otherwise, a wasted recommendation because they can’t say anything about you that would add to the application
4- yes, this part is solid. Unfortunately, unless your work experience was at GS/C/BAC/equivalent, you don’t really have too much of a leg up on others.

3 might not even help because there are so many people at Penn who have their parents writing the checks that it’s difficult to care about a girl who simply knows people who write checks.

So if it’s these kids parents writing checks to get them in, hypothetically speaking, does that mean if my family wrote a decent check to Wharton my odds of getting in greatly increase. It seems like a gamble to have ur parents write a check to a college that u are not garenteed to get into. Btw just for future reference I’m a guy. LOL

haha- yr a guy and she thought u were a girl. i pictured u as a girl too. idk why.

colleges care about donations and money. it’s sad but that’s the world we’re in. the best $ comes from alums- so not to all quakes: if u want yr kid in, share the love.

but anyway, there’s a lot of intelligence of campus but u better believe that there’s a ton of wealth as well. the 2 aren’t always mutually exclusive, but they can be. this happens at a lot of ivy league schools. (i met such an idiot at yale but she was definitely a a million or billionaire.) so money talks.

i mean it helps to donate, but if yr parents just wrote a check to wharton, rather than some sort of general university fund, that would be a little suspicious.

No colleges care little about letters of recommendations other than the teachers’ and counselors. Because they care more about how you can learn and get along in the class room rather than gambling by having parents write checks (and you know that a couple hundred dollars won’t do it, it’s pretty much hundreds of thousands to millions–enough to fund a program or build a building)

Haha I know a couple hundred won’t do it. I see my dad writing checks to his former school quite often. They might not be millions of dollars but i see plenty of zeros at the end of the check and I’m sure over the years it adds up to hundreds of thousands if not a million or so. Anyway if its not obvious already, I come from a very wealthy family (I’m not trying to brag but its one of those things that after reading these responses might be used for my benefit.) If it does help, how can i use wealth to get this university to notice me. (I know it sounds shallow, but honestly we’re talking about wharton…A degree from this place and your automatically going to be a rich business man or a top wall street ibanker.)

What are your stats?

…lol

i appreciate yr honesty w/ regard 2 yr wealth. honestly, that can really, really help u. money talks, esp. in this economy. amy just sent us an email about how the economy sucks etc…
