Will they get my December ACT?

I had everything in before December 1st, and I had a 28 on my ACT, but I got a 33 on the one I took in December, with writing, but the writing isn't scored yet. Will they get my ACT in time to consider it for scholarships and/or even admission? I have to write them a letter because of a schedule change, and send them my 7th semester grades, so would it be reasonable to include the ACT scores I got in December unofficially, and would they consider those scores and just verify them later when they get the scores?

I would suggest FAXing admissions a printout of your score today. That is a significant improvement, and you want them to have it as soon as possible. You don’t need any excuse to do so, just write your USC ID# on the printout and FAX it.

Office of Admission Fax Number:
(213) 821-0200

Good luck!

*And yes, they use unofficial scores to consider applications and verify with official scores when they arrive.

FAX IT NOW FOR SCHOLARSHIP CONSIDERATION!

My H is on faculty and will likely be asked tenative dates for his availability on a scholarship panel when het gets back on Monday.

I faxed it, thanks for the advice, but what about the fact that the writing component isn’t scored?

Yay! Thanks for letting us know.

I don’t “know” at all how they might handle that. The reason to FAX it right away is the possibility/hope that a significantly higher ACT could possibly move your application over to the scholarship pile - before it is too late for that possibility. I also recommend that as soon as the writing section is available to you that you print out the scores and FAX them again.

Good luck, and congratulations on the ACT score - great job!

Thanks! I’m really proud of my improvement.

@Findaplace

do you know for sure that they haven’t done scholarship stuff yet? It’d be amazing if my 33 could be considered for scholarships

thanks again for your help, both of you!

Lightja,
Merit scholarships are not awarded on SAT/ACT scores. That is only a part of the selection process. Recipients in previous years did have fine scores, but also achieved amazing things outside of the classroom. Also, an interview is part of the process.

When a senior’s application is reviewed test scores are only a part of the deliberation. Some students have had to surmount enormous difficulties to achieve their dream of attending a university.

Actually, as much as I agree with you, that scores aren’t the only thing, I want to say you’re actually wrong.

I do believe that you automatically receive the presidential scholarship if you’re a National Merit Scholar.

Besides, no matter how you slice it, a 33 is much more desirable than a 28.

You are correct. I was explaining about the other scholarships.

If an applicant is a National Merit Scholar and names SC as his/her first choice college and IS ACCEPTED the individual will receive a half tuition scholarship. While enrolled at SC the student must maintain a certain GPA and take 16 units each semester.
