I feel like I did better on my first SAT essay than on my second one. So, what I'm wondering, is if I did better on the second-attempt multiple choice, but better on the first essay, will they use that essay or the one from the second attempt?

Colleges take the highest reading score, the highest math score and the highest writing score out of all the tests you’ve taken. So if there was a really bad essay topic, you can take it again and they will take the higher of the scores.

I’m fairly certain that colleges do not look at your MC and essay separately. They just take the cumulative writing score for each test date. I wish they would separate them out because I did awesome on my writing MC (answered all, 2 wrong) but bombed the essay with a 7. Since then, I haven’t been able to do that well on the MC when taking practice tests.

Can anyone else confirm that they don’t look at your essay and MC separately?
