SAT Scoring Question/How do schools see the scores?

This really doesn't affect me all that much, because I am already into my #1 school, but I have been wondering this for a while. I know that if you take the SAT multiple times, the colleges see all your attempts, and then take the best composite score. But my question is, what do they do with the essays? For example, this is how my scores were:
First test time: Math 580, Critical Reading 710, Writing 700(Essay:12)
Second Test time: Match 610: Critical Reading 750, Writing 710(Essay:10)

So, Clearly my second test scores are better across the board, but I didn't do as well on the essay. So, in compiling my "composite" score, would they look at the "12" essay, or not?

Essentially, when they take my composite score, for the writing, would they take "Writing 710(Essay:10)" "Writing 710(Essay:12)"?

Anyone an answer to that?

Much thanks

I don't think they look at the essay subscore too much, if at all. There's debate over whether they even look at the writing section (for the record, most schools do, and the majority count it as much as CR)

hmm....Well I think it should defintely be looked at, now that the new test has been administered for a couple of years, it seems like it should be just important as the other two.
