Will this get me rescinded?

My predicted grades for this semester:

AP Spanish Lit - A
AP Lit - A or high B
AP Microeconomics - A or high B
AP Comparative Govt - A
Multivariable Calculus - a high F (like maybe 60 something)

I don't have a really good reason for why I failed math. Earlier in the semester I got involved in an extremely physically and mentally exhausting animal rights project, and I got a really bad grade on the first test. After that I've been trying to bring my grade up by doing better on subsequent tests, but there have only been four tests in total, and there are no other grades in this class, so I'm afraid I won't be able to pass in the end. It's a really, really difficult class and not a lot of people in the nation take it before college, so I'm hoping that it'll just show that I'm not ready for such a high level of math yet, since my other grades are okay....

Will my horrible grade in math, will I get rescinded from college? I am also on the waitlist for Emory, will it result in my being rejected from the waitlist? If I wrote to them and gave the reason I gave above, will it save my chances? Please help....

No way to know for sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it hurts your chances on the Emory waitlist. I mean as challenging as multivariable calculus is, there are a lot of people on their waitlist that aren’t failing a class.

With that said, getting rescinded is pretty rare (it would also help if you let us know what colleges you are talking about), but an F is a bad thing. What was your 1st semester grade?

Thanks for your input!

I’m committing to Oxford-Emory. I had an 100 in multi last semester because we were studying pretty easy stuff, only had 3 tests, and the teacher dropped the lowest one. This semester the curriculum has gotten a lot more difficult, and the teacher says he won’t drop the lowest grade anymore. So it’s going to be an insane drop, going from 100 to 60…

I’m just praying that I get to keep my spot at Oxford-Emory.
