will this hurt me?

i want to apply to wharton ED. i am trying my hardest to get four years of language in (french) but that would mean taking one over the summer which i am trying to do (i have to get principal approval first). if that doesnt work, will the three years of language hurt me a lot for wharton?

also, i got a 2160 on the sats. i got a 660 on the CR which is what brought my score down (780M, 720W). will the CR score hurt me a lot for wharton?

bump bump bump

1) language. i got into the college with three years of spanish and one of latin. i dont think language particularly matters when taking account of your entire course schedule. three years should suffice. although if you can do your summer thing, DO IT. it definitely will only help your chances.

2) sats. ZOMG CR IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. you will not get in with that CR score. although it seems that a good writing score may compensate for it, a high CR is imperative to get into a good college. (some schools dont even take the writing score, ie georgetown) my advice: retake retake retake until you get to about 2250>. work hard on improving your CR. ITS VITAL.

Okay thanks for the advice! I am really pushing toward the summer French, but it is nice to know that it is not the end of the world if I don’t do it.
And I am going to take as many SATs I can until I get in, because I know I can do better on the CR. My June SAT is for the subject tests, but I will take more in the fall to boost the score. Thanks again!

yes, take the subject tests while everythings still fresh. one gets better at CR by just reading passages and answering questions. im not sure if you are a reader or not, but just pick up a novel( anytype is fine, like a dan brown. they’re fast to go through) and read for a 2 or 3 weeks. you dont even need to finish the book. it totally helps in reading comprehension and speed.

good luck!

U know, u can also take the acts as well. If u find yourself struggling with the cr, try the acts. They each test a different element. Sats is logical reasoning and acts is more comprehensive knowledge. There are people who do awful on the sat but good on the acts. Idk, keep the acts in mind because it gives u another testing opportunity and option

funkmu is absolutely right. I went with the ACT (never even took the SAT). I knew I was toast on the vocab sections of CR on the SAT so I took the ACT where I at least had a sporting chance at every point.
