what is the importance of taking a SAT subject test in a second language for CAS and Wharton? Penn noted on its website and it "recommends" taking at least one, but what does "recommend" entail exactly? Is the chances of being admitted significantly reduced by the lack of one?

I doubt it…but if you do end up getting into Penn and attending, you get out of your language requirement. according to my advisor, the language classes are really annoying to fit into your schedule, so it’s probably better to get it out of the way if you can

i took the satII in spanish and the chinese with listening satII plus lots of other satIIs. tried to take as many as i could…

I have another question regarding the topic of SATII Language tests… (sorry for borrowing your thread john032)

If you already took 2 subject tests and did pretty well on them, like over 700s on both, but then you took a third subject test for language and did pretty bad, like low low 600s. Will that severely effect my acceptance? Or will Penn just look at the top two SATII scores and ignore the third language one?

yuenie, no worries.

most schools I know average the top 3 sat ii subjects, so be sure to do well on another subject exam

I’ve never heard of a schoold taking the average of your top scores before…

Just wondering – say you get into Penn and then decide to take the language SAT in June of that year. Is that doable?

^ I would say it is doable…but as I was a senior last year, I can tell you from personal experience that SAT IIs are the last thing on your mind. at least in my area, that first week of june is prom, grad and parties.
