Ok, so I have had a horrible 1st sem of senior year. I am basically failing school. I have only gone like 1/2 the days because of headaches/migraines!! I have 5 AP classes and I will most likely get a B in AP calculus BC and maybe (praying that I don't) get a B in AP Physics C!!!! Those aren't even hard classes and I still may not do well in them. AM I SCREWED FOR TOP SCHOOLS??? I've only gotten 2 other Bs in all of high school.

BTW, I am total humanities person and will never touch math/engineering in college if that makes a difference. I may do bio but thats it. but still calc and physics are not that hard. my brain just doesn't work.

Um, I’m pretty sure two B’s won’t kill you, especially if your counselor explains. Then again, I’m not an admissions officer, so I can’t give you a definitive answer…

Calm down, 2 B’s is not “basically failing” anything. Make sure your counselor explains your situation in their recommendation, and you should have nothing too much to worry about. Especially if you’re still in the top 10% of your grade.

A Humanities person claiming that Physics C and Calc BC aren’t hard? I second that ■■■■■ alert.

If this post is legitimate, no, you’ll be fine. If you feel the need to have your guidance counselor explain the situation then go ahead and ask him/her to do so.

First of all, to people trying to help, thank you, I will probably talk to my counselor soon.

Second of all, IM NOT A ■■■■■!!! IT’S CALLED GRADE INFLATION!!! and I never said it wouldn’t ruin my life, I asked if it would seriously hurt my chances at Dartmouth which is an extremely competitive top ranked schools and let’s face it, B’s don’t look too good especially when about 50% of my calc class and 35% of my physics class gets A’s.

I am just more interested in the humanities. I have taken every ap science course except ap chemistry (teacher is very hard and I don’t like chem that much) and I am science club treasurer at a top ranked school in california. I never said I was “bad” at math/science. I just would prefer to focus on the humanities in college.

That makes more sense. My original response was basically motivated by my own experience. My Physics C class suffers from grade deflation, and it gets to me when people get all flustered about B’s.

Yeah seriously, grade deflation at my school is bad too. I had an A in Chinese one day, then the school told the teacher her class was too easy and there were too many A’s, so the next day I had a B, and that’s what’s on my transcript.

I also had a teacher give me a B+ when my grade was an 89.5 and one give me an A- when I got a 92 and a 93 first and second semesters, respectively (93 and up = A at my school)

Grade deflation sucks, and I’m sure it’s even worse at other schools :(

You’ll take calc no matter what in college everyone does, my gf had one b in high school, and senior year 6 ap’s straight A’s, still did not get into Dartmouth, it’ll come down to more and those you are competing against.

Yet you still manage to get Bs in those two reputably hard classes.

Wow, if you can miss half of my school year and still be able to catch up and learn that well (considering the other days are due to headaches, illnesses, which should prevent you from studying) I wonder why you’re not going there 2/3 of the time and getting A A A A A?

All I see is you bragging. Definitely can see why others accused you of being a ■■■■■.

I checked and I actually go to school about like 60% of the time and the other days I don’t go because of chronic headaches so I can’t go to school and I can do only simple work that doesn’t take thinking. I’ve had to work harder then ever this year because when I’m feeling ok, I have to do the current work and my make up work in half the time. This year has been a major struggle and I am not bragging in any way. Please read the post before commenting.

I’m feeling better and I haven’t had a headache for a while so my doctor thinks I just might have been stressed out about something’s or something in my diet might have been causing a problem and giving me my headaches. I’ve changed my diet and made some lifestyle changes and things have been looking up so I should be fine :)
