I am so screwed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, so I have had a horrible 1st sem of senior year. I am basically failing school. I have only gone like 1/2 the days because of headaches/migraines!! I have 5 AP classes and I will most likely get a B in AP calculus BC and maybe (praying that I don't) get a B in AP Physics C!!!! Those aren't even hard classes and I still may not do well in them. AM I SCREWED FOR TOP SCHOOLS??? I've only gotten 2 other Bs in all of high school.

BTW, I am total humanities person and will never touch math/engineering in college if that makes a difference. I may do bio but thats it. but still calc and physics are not that hard. my brain just doesn't work.

Thanks!

cry me a river

Are you really complaining?

yes. look my school has serious grade inflation and around 50% of my calc class and about 35% of my physics class will get A’s. Thats why I say those classes aren’t that difficult. Most people do well in them. Almost no one gets a C and sometimes over 50% of the class will get an A, so 2 more B’s on my transcript is gonna look really bad.

It hurts. Go study.

yea… my school is the opposite. everyone gets B’s and C’s and only the tops students get A’s… this is the way it should be.

get a life. A B is solid. Although it’s not enough for the elite colleges u probably should attend an elite college in the first place. Grow up and i’m sure u attended more than 1/2 of the days. No one else defend this cry baby plz. sorry for being blunt

B’s won’t sink you if you don’t have tons of them. If it’s really inflated, though, that’s another story. Get your teachers to explain how hard you work and talk about their curriculums in a positive light. Recs must be solid to clear some of that up.

Lol, you are screwed. Your life is over. Bye-bye.

If those classes are that easy; if that many kids get As, then they are not going to have an easy time with the AP tests come May. My Ds AP bio class has grade deflation rather than inflation. Quite frankly, I am glad about it, and I hope she learns how to study before she goes to college. It sure helped me to have a class I was failing my senior year, pull out a C, get As in the class the rest of the year, and then major in the subject in college (math).

Incidentally, if you are having that many migraines, you should see a doctor.

If this is all you have to complain about - concerned about getting into elite schools - consider yourself lucky.

Yea you won’t go to college now.

As a parent I have to say I think you are putting enormous stress on yourself for no reason. With only 2 B’s, even 4 if you get two this semester, your options are endless, assuming you do well on SAT/ACT. Try to remember that you are in better shape than 99% of the students in this country. Now go play some video games and relax.

did you just call bc calc an easy class? it’s insanely difficult! getting a b in bc calc is like getting an a ++ in any other math class.

if your school is extremely competitive, the admissions officer will probably take that into account. also, colleges focus more on the midyear report than just one marking period alone. so as long as you improve in the second marking period, i wouldn’t worry too much.

my advice to you: take ten minutes, drink some hot tea with honey and lemon, and RELAX!!! please don’t kill yourself with all this stress :)

I don’t think so.

If you are genuinely ill, you have a valid excuse for some minor drop in your grades. Just write a handwritten note to each of the colleges you’re applying to, or mention it somewhere on supplements if there’s a good spot for it.

I had a similar situation. I got my only two B’s in the second semester of my junior year. I’m trying to pick it up, but it’s really killer. Post yur stats, it might help give perspective on what yur chances were now and then.

PROFILE:

School type: Top 300 public in Southern CA
Ethnicity: 25% Mexican 75% European

Income level: high

STATS:

9-12 weighted GPA: 4.578 (5.0 scale)

9-12 unweighted: 3.94 (4.0 scale)
10-12 unweighted: 3.96 (4.0 scale)
School doesn’t rank and my counselor said our GPAs aren’t that reliable because we weight easy courses like marine bio honors as much as hard ones like AP Physics C

Condensed Course Description:

Strong Aspects of my schedule:

Consistent GPA improvement (4.3 freshman year, 4.7 sophomore year, 4.7 junior year but I took an AP test without taking the course and scored a five and I took part in the science fair which is normally a class and honors weighted but I entered it too late; my counselor will mention these things).

My schedule has become more rigorous by the year especially in regards to mathematics courses. I did not take honors math the first two years of high school, moved up to Pre-calc honors junior year and am now in both Calc BC and Physics C AP (traditionally the hardest science course)

Weak Aspects of my schedule:

I received two B’s in high school and one was junior year (pre calc Honors). I was sick (headache problem started) a lot second semester and my math teacher wasn’t that accommodating and I couldn’t keep up with the material. Also, the class was very hard and he didn’t use the book so it was easy to get behind.

I have taken no honors of ap foreign language classes. I have taken four years of spanish and have gotten straight A’s but foreign language is the only honors/ap course offered in which I have no courses that are honors or ap level. My counselor will still check most rigorous though for my schedule.

everyone sucks at senior year, dont worry about it.

You’re URM, you will get in to at least a few elite schools if that is important to you. Any chance of playing golf in college? That would help also.
