I am applying to a lot of top-tier schools (HYSM) and have the grades in a rigorous curriculum, SATs, and a ton of ECs. I feel like my ECs may be a little bit unfocused and have more breadth than depth, but I really do enjoy all of them. Simply put, I don't think that there is anything to set me apart from the thousands of other candidates. I hope to do so in the interview and essay. I wrote an essay about what my true passion is, cooking. I broke it down into the different ways that it impacts me and how it is my passion. I think that it is really heartfelt and well-written, but I am wondering if it is a little superficial for the schools I am applying to. Any advice? ALso, if you're willing to read, PM me. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Pm me. Im a future candidate but will not plagiarize your essay in any form.
Are you a boy/girl?

I don’t think there is anything that is too “superficial” for any school. It’s not WHAT you write about, it’s HOW you write it. Some of the best essays ever written are about very mundane things, but reveal an enormous amount about the author. If you feel as if your essay shows who you are and what makes you tick, then you’re golden.

I know that this is sort of something for me to find out, but does anyone have any suggestions for how I should go about writing this essay. I was thinking about talking about the different aspects of cooking and how it affects me, but i think that my presentation came off a little bit cliched. Thanks

Suggestion:
write about your most terrible cooking.
Then send your homemade cupcakes to the adcoms.
That will certainly distinguish you from the rest. :D

PM me if you want. I will definitely NOT be writing about cooking so no worries about plagiarism
