Will UCSB and USC care about 1 missing year of Foreign Language?

I seriously am tripping major ballsack over the idea of me having a solid app but then they see that I only have 1 year of FL (nevada only requires 1), so then i get rejected or waitllisted. I traded emails with my admissions rep for USC that is assigned to my school (u can find yours at their website) but she has yet to respond. So what do you guys think? Will one missing year of foreign language be the death of me?

For those who havent seen my stats:

3.52 UW GPA
4.22 W GPA
2180 SAT

poor/decent EC's
Plan on majoring in Psychology or Cognitive Science.

bump again… pulls hair out oh wait im black. we have no hair to pull out. admires hairline

I’m sorry bro but it is true that two years of a foreign language are necessary to even be eligible for UCs and I suspect that USC may have the same policy. Are you a junior or senior?

You need those 2 years to be eligible. It’s part of those a-g requirements. Same goes for USC.

Im a junior. I was gonna take spanish next year…maybe i should try an online class and try to get an extra year in another language like french or something.

^ That won’t help. Colleges usually want to see the same language. An online Spanish class would be more beneficial.

Actually for UC you have to take two years of the SAME language. I would try taking it this summer or taking the same language your senior year.

Why not just pick up the courses. No big deals. Do them in the summer if necessary. Then you have everything you need. :)

Yea im looking into summer programs. I feel like an idiot for waiting this long for a FL class. I was aware that it had to be the same language but I read that colleges like it if u have a class besides spanish because it makes u have the “i can add something to this class” appeal. idk.
