Will Undecided Hurt Chances?

I am a hopeful transfer to NYU, and I was wondering if putting down undecided in the intended major would hurt my chances at all.

I dunno about transfer, it probably depends what year you'll be....But as a fresh. applicant I know it makes absoultely no disavantage to the student to write down "undecided." Most students are undecided at that point, what they want to major in. Just my two cents

its easy to change your major, just pick a really unpopular major to try to get it (may help), then change once you get here.

why dont you just pick a major to put down? you dont have to stick with it at all

from the way my mom was yelling at me when i told her i was goign to put down undecided on my apps, i guess she believes that it hurts your chances

i chose physics as my major and almost got into all my schools (except cornell) so i definitely think putting down physics as my major helped me get into schools

Freshman admission, it doesn't matter much but with transfer admission, it might. What year will you be in? Chances are they're going to want an indication of major.

I would be transfering as a sophomore, so hopefully it does not apply.
