Hi guys I’m a senior and I go to school in Virginia, I will be applying to William and Mary for regular decision. William and Mary is my number one pick. I have a 4.28gpa W and 1500 SAT. For my ECs, I did TSA, Investment club, computer science club, national science honors. I also play the piano and play high school hockey. I think my stats are pretty decent, but my only concern is that I got a honor code violation in 10th grade. Some of my ideas for my sentences were kinda similar to a website. Idk how much it will affect any chances, I deeply regret doing it and I wish it won’t prevent me from going to William and Mary. ( the average kid who got into William and Mary at my school had a 4.15gpa)
I hope it won’t prevent*
You mean that the honor code violation was for plagiarism?
I’m by no means an expert but based on your stats and in state status alone, you are more than qualified for admission to William and Mary. As for your honor code violation, as long as you properly addressed it in your application and spoke about how you grew and learned from it, it may not completely sink your chances of admission. Again, I’m not an expert, just giving my opinion. Hope to see you on campus next year!
Would havig an upwards trend help? I got a 4.1 freshman and sophomore year and a 4.67 junior and senior year. I took some high school classes in middle achool and did bad
An upward trend is always going to be beneficial.
So would you rather have a 4.3 gpa all four years or like 4.0 freshman and sophomore year and 4.6 junior and senior year. They both have the same average
Put it this way, if you have some Bs early on in P.E. or Art or Spanish I, but have top grades in the core classes, it will not matter much.
On the other hand, if you wrote that you want to major in Physics and your science classes are not your best grades, it will be noticed. And they hate it if it looks like you are slacking off senior year.
Seriously, they will look at GPA, your course selection out of the courses available at your school, and your grades in those classes. All of them.
my Bs in middle school were language courses (not English)
