I have always struggled in high school in the areas of math and science. Unfortunately, the subjects never seem to click with me despite extended studying efforts, I will address this in the application. Depression and ADD is perhaps the worst combination for anyone who is in high school and I’m not exactly sure if I should address that or not. I am currently receiving treatment for my ADD. The treatment started during the last quarter of my junior year (it couldn’t have come any sooner??!!) and appears to be helping- should I mention this??? I am extremely passionate about music and my love of cooking is very strong and I think that at least the cooking part will help to individualize me more. I will be sending in my senior year progress report and first report card once they come in. Does it actually help any to send them a new report card, if there is improvement??

I love William and Mary and have wanted to go there ever since I stepped foot on campus when I was 7 years old. I know that the odds are NOT in my favor, but I would be mad at my self if I just gave up and didn’t try at all.

I do know someone that had a 3.7 GPA at my school and was accepted to UVA and William and Mary (both regular decision) because of extremely high test scores. Is this something that I should try to do??

My son was accepted ED last fall. I think you need to see the trends for your high school such as. how many apply each year, what are the GPA’s and test scores. Our county provides this for popular schools and it helped to know where our son stood - historically anyway. Since you can only apply to one school ED (its binding) make sure you have a good chance otherwise use the ED for a school that is not a stretch.

For your reference, he graduated with a 4.20, top 10% of his class at the 5th best public school in the state. ACT was 33. SAT 2200 & 1400. Captain of Swim team, 4 years varsity, 3 years state champion swim team, 2 years crew, 2 years crew national qualifier, boys state, boy scout life, order of the arrow, and class representative. Also, the students from his school this year who were accepted were all top 10% and over 4.00

Good luck.

“Since you can only apply to one school ED (its binding) …” if you don’t apply for financial aid, but if you do need aid and what’s offered is insufficient to support attendance, you can decline the offer. However, W&M discourages those who need aid from applying ED.
