Okay... I have been doing many researches in my opinion, yet I have a very difficult time deciding between these schools... ***By the way, I am only an waitlister at Chicago and Wash U, but I still would like to know more about these schools, just in case I happen to be offered admission. :)

This is my quick information
I am an international student and have lived in TN for four years
I plan on majoring in International Relations/or Studies and would like to become the ambassador for my country and would love to work on the transnational issues...
Yet, I am open for other options for my major - I am still a high school senior :)
With that being said, I would like an institution that has a strong dep in Communications or subjects that are somewhat related to what I want to do in my future. I am mainly interested in being taught under strong faculties to prepare myself for the next level.

What I have to take into consideration is these universities' international prestige. William and Mary, very surprisingly, is not very well known in South Korea... So weird, because many professionals and older generation people I have spoken to in US all seem to have a very high opinion of this institution, especially for its academic atmosphere.

I have also been accepted to Elliot School at GW and SPA at American, but these two seem to be heavily inclined into IR mainly, and as I have mentioned above, my major choice is somewhat tentative.

Please give me your thoughts on these institutions, and the long answers would be greatly preferred. Thank you so much

I would choose between UCLA and Chicago.

W&M is very well known by people that matter.

Chicago, if you get off the waitlist. If not, go with UCLA.

That’s what I had in mind also. Chicago definitely would be my top choice.

So in case I do not get into Chicago, it would be mainly between UCLA and William and Mary. I heard some great things about William and Mary’s International Relations Program, and a number of WM alumni seem to work for the government, which can assist me with a good connection. Also, it has a phenomenal history and is much smaller compared to UCLA, which I like.

But it would be so difficult to turn down UCLA. I absolutely loved the campus and the ppl when I visited and would LOVE to study in that atmosphere. Also, I cannot forget to mention about its incredible weather and dining services.
Everyone recognizes UCLA as a fabulous institution, and it is respected internationally.
It has many strong programs in diverse areas, but I am not sure about its international relations program. I know that they have just created a new major called Global Studies, but I have not heard much about UCLA’s IR program…

So yeah… it is very difficult decision indeed. But I am more inclined toward UCLA.

W&M has better academics and stronger peer group for undergrad. If you want an intellectual environment that is fun but not in an Animal House way, then W&M is for you. But, nothing compares with UCLA sports, LA weather, parties/social scene. If that is what is your focus is in college, then UCLA is tops. Two very different schools.

My pecking order would be:

Chicago
UCLA
Wash U
WM

Well I have done some more researches, and I guess I will go to UCLA if I dont get in to Chicago. It would be really difficult decision for me though
Thanks guys.
