I'm having so much trouble deciding where to go. I have been accepted to W&M, Emory, and New College of Florida. I have visited the schools, and loved all three. I need some general advice on which I should pick. If it helps, I am planning on majoring in government, public policy, or international relations. I plan to minor in French Language.

I am aware that New College is not well known, but it has amazing academics. If you can only input on Emory and W&M, it is appreciated.

Since I don't have any personal experience with these schools, ordinarily I wouldn't reply, but since you have no other replies ... I'd choose William and Mary! I at least have a young friend (I'm a parent type) who is about to graduate there, and he has loved it. I see it as similar to New College, but more venerable, more well-known, and better. I see Emory as in a different category from those two, a little more social, a little less intellectual, a little more career-oriented. Maybe you can visit them again? If they're really, really, really close in your mind, is there any difference in cost to help you decide? Or what about the environs?

Like Bennington, Hampshire, The Evergreen State College, Sarah Lawrence,Marlboro. Great school...but very different than W&M and Emory. New is very liberal, has very small classes, great professor-student interaction.

W&M and Emory are both much bigger than New College. Of the two, it just depends on what you like...more Northerners at Emory than at W&M, but W&M has a better reputation. Emory is more liberal, W&M more conservative.

Those three are pretty different, but they are all good schools. I'd choose William & Mary. It seems strong in your academic interests, very historic, nice location (possibly good for DC internships?)

I live a good 20-30 minutes from W&M. It's a good school, yes, and if you like the location that's great... but it's still a good 3 hours from DC and isn't in the most populated area. Then again, I'm an urban girl.

Though I am not a business or government major at W&M (I'm actually in archaeology and history), opportunities for DC semester and/or summer internships are constantly being advertised in and around campus. Conversations I overhear in class from those planning to or have already attended the program are filled with excitement and lively talk about the range of opportunities offered.
I figure if this spot of information is reaching ME, I can only imagine the range of opportunities available to those who are actually interested. Good luck to all!

I would pick Emory, unless you are in-state for WM and need to save money. Your interests are fairly broad, so it might be better to go to a bigger place, a full-service university as opposed to a liberal arts college.
