If anyone's child is looking at Williams, I have just posted an interview with a Williams junior (our own Haon) on my blog discussing everything from the food in the cafeteria to the freshman advising system. To get to it, click on my name to the left, then click on "visit Carolyn's homepage."

Thanks Carolyn. The daughter of a good friend of mine has it as her first choice right now. I'll send her the link.

Nicely done, Carolyn--and Noah!

Thanks, Carolyn and Noah. Williams is at or near the top of the list for S.

All the credit goes to Noah who did a terrific job of answering my questions. By the way, folks who remember Twinkle Toes from last year's crop of college freshmen may want to read her comments on Trinity which I put up yesterday (right below the Williams entry). In the next few days, look for Beck's comments about Olin. If anyone has a kiddo who would be happy to answer some questions about their college or university, please let me know. Thanks!

More thanks to Carolyn and Noah! My daughter will be very interested in this.

i'd be glad to talk about smith, carolyn, if you have questions.

Thanks, Carolyn and well done, haon! I can see I'm going to be quoting from this interview.

I've just spent a week on vacation with my own Eph and I can say unreservedly that one of the forces that makes a Williams education so special is the enthusiasm and energy of the students, including kids like haon (who happens to be a friend of my son's.) The intellectual spark, the social self confidence, the eagerness (to paraphrase John Sebastian) to get out there and hit his head against the sky.

From the perspective of a parent enjoying the pleasure of observing and listening to her child halfway through his undergraduate career, he couldn't have made a better choice than Williams.

Gosh, momrath. Between you and haon, I'm ready to sign up to go to Williams myself. IF (big if) my son manages to keep his grades up and dos well on his SATs, Williams will be high on the list of schools I'll encourage him to look at. And, from the little I've gotten to know haon on these boards and through private emails, I'd say your son is lucky to have him as a friend. :)

Thanks carolyn, I'll have DS#2 read this. He is scheduled for an overnight Oct 1-3. I would like him to have alternates to West Point. he has an LOA there and it is making me (and his teachers) extremely nervous. As in he is very serious about accepting an appointment should he receive one.
