MikeyD223 - Thanks for clarifying re: MomMary- "Local students" are students from Berkshire county.

Also, re: JustanotherCCer- Getting a letter from the Williams financial aid office telling you that your application is incomplete is definitely a good thing. They wouldn't bother letting you know if they weren't planning on accepting you.
- What if they contacted you about missing supplement, never rec'd (but sent, and so re-sent via fax)? This was in Feb....wonder if that's "meaningful"...?

I just called Williams and they told me that they had not sent out anything, which is completely weird. The lady told me that the letters would be sent "by April 1" (?). I asked her whether Williams would FedEx the decisions or send them by normal mail, and she said the latter. However, it can take up to about four weeks for a "normal mail" to get to Switzerland. This seems to make little sense. Can anyone enlighten me?

does Williams send out acceptance packages to internationals through snail mail?

bump........

Ok, I got an email from admissions and this is the way it works for internationals: Williams will send an email and package by April 1st IF YOU ARE ACCEPTED. If you aren't, they will ONLY send a letter on april 1st. No email. You are free to call and get your decision by phone after April 4th.

umm i was deferred from yale in the fall and recently got into suny binghamton and muhlenburg...

then today i was waitlisted at haverford. it freaked me out a little not because i care all that much about haverford, but instead because it seemed to me that it might not bode well for williams and some of the other colleges i'm applying to...

anyways, i, too, am also anxiously awaiting my letter from williams.....gjskfljdskfs.

I got into Bryn Mawr and Wellesley, but Wellesley's financial aid award was minimal ($3,000 in grants compared to $21,000 from Bryn Mawr), so it's not really an option.

I don't know why everyone is freaking out...Williams' notification date isn't until Apr. 1. Yes, admissions has already sent out a few acceptances, but many more will arrive on Apr. 1.

"last year everyone had gotten decisions by now"

Today is only the 27th. Last year, envelopes were postmarked March 29th -- received by the weekend that included April 1st, as well as the following week.

Quoted from the Williams Admission website: "We anticipate mailing all admission decisions by March 30th." So most should be received starting Monday, April 2nd.

By this time next week, many applicants will know.

That must be why no decisions will be given to international applicants by phone until Wednesday, April 4th.

really? i was going through last years decisions thread, and EVERYONE seemed to have received decisions by the 27th. Maybe they send regular decisions in waves?

"Maybe they send regular decisions in waves?"

Last year, the Admission Office stated that decisions would be sent by April 1st -- so they'll actually be finished sending them out two days earlier this year.

I called the admissions office the other day, and the lady told me they are sending out acceptences by email to interntaional students only. So if you're accepted you'll get one. If you dont receive one you're rejected.
Lafayette did that this year too.
It's pretty stupid.

I'm sorry, but that's completely ridiculous. I don't even know if they're counting me as an international student for notifications since I live in the US -- Wellesley didn't, but there's no way for me to know whether Williams follows the same protocol, considering that I do count as a foreign student in admissions and financial aid. I'm not expecting to be accepted since Williams basically hates my high school and has only admitted one of our students in the past six or more years, but if they're going to reject me, can't they just get it done and stop being so damn ambiguous about it?

I'm sorry about the rant, but I'm pretty upset about this.
