I didn't do nearly as good as expected... 670. 680 on Math, 790 on Writing. How about you?

760 V, 720 W, 770 M

Are you Korean?
Hope we are not competing against each other......haha

No, not Korean, haha. And we're not competing, I live near Williams and, from my knowledge, "local" students are considered in a different pool.

But good luck to you!

Hmm.. do "local" students get advantage or not?

GOOD LUCk TO U TOO :)

Supposedly, although I really doubt I'm getting in.

Whoaaa... Guys, there are still lots of acceptance letters to be sent. Admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis, and Williams has been trending to a process whereby applicants are notified as soon as decisions are made.

Local students get a huge boost in the process, and I would be somewhat surprised if you didn't get in Kevin

Could you define "local"? Williamstown? Nearby towns? Statewide?

Okay, I'm going to have to ask a question that requires some speculation:

I got a fin-aid letter saying my FA was incomplete. Is FA app and admissions app for Williams hand-in-hand? I'd like to think that I haven't heard anything because they wanted to get everything together for me before they sent a final letter. Just wishful thinking.

is Vietnamese considered URM at Williams? I'm just asking cos' my frd happens to be 1/2 Vietnamese and 1/2 Chinese. Any idea? :)

MomMary- "Local students" are students from Berkshire county.

JustanotherCCer- Getting a letter from the Williams financial aid office telling you that your application is incomplete is definitely a good thing. They wouldn't bother letting you know if they weren't planning on accepting you.

Curious Kid - Asian is considered URM at Williams. If she is an Asian citizen, then she will not be given preferential status.

thanks MikeyD223. but what exactly do you mean by "preferential status"? can you please clarify?

Also, another one of my frd's from HOng Kong took a year off to re-apply to Williams again this year because he got waitlisted last year. Would the fact that he got waitlisted last year boost his chances this year?
He's doing this cos' he knows that Williams is his absolute top choice, and also that Williams doesn't accept international tranfers.... any idea?

Thanks!

btw, he did indicate on his application that he was waitlisted last year....so the AdCom is aware of this....

If all else were equal, an applicant with preferential status would be accepted over an applicant with identical qualifications who did not have "preferential status."

If he wasn't accepted last year, and he hasn't done something unique to make his application standout in the interim, it is unlikely that he will be accepted this year. Williams has a waiting-list the size of the Sears tower, so I'm not sure that his "waitlisted" status necessarily meant he was close to being admitted.

Taking a year off and simply hoping that you'll get into your top choice college the second time around is not smart. My advice to CCers is that you avoid this tactic.

were all the decisions postmarked march the 20th?

does Williams send out acceptance packages to internationals through snail mail?

heh, it's been quite a while, and williams' reply to me hasn't arrived yet (i'm an international student as well)

justanotherCCer, My daughter received the same letter from fin aid which I took as a good sign since it says on their website that tax returns are not due till 4/15. But, you never know...

does Williams send out acceptance packages to internationals through snail mail?

bump........

I wonder about that too, Curious Kid - where are you from?

im from CT but i thought they weren't sending letters out until the 31st. Gah
