hmm i see where youre coming from. but i think they define 'international' based on where you're living, as opposed to what citizenship you have. So chances are you probably wont get an email if you're accepted. And williams is needblind for everyone :-))

camelia-

Your school is very small. Williams only takes less than 1 in 5 applicants overall. I don't think you are being fair to yourself when you generalize from a very tiny example.

My suspicion is that, because you have a US mailing address, you will be treated as domestic for notification purposes and will receive a letter even though you are not a US citizen. That's just my guess.

You could call and ask. Alternatively, you could watch CC and see when people post that they have received their letters. If April 5th rolls around and other people in the DC area have received their letters and you've heard nothing, you could try calling Williamstown to get your decision.

I think I'd go with calling in advance to know what to expect/look for. That's a reasonable request to be making, given that you have to make up your mind amongst competing offers. I saw that you had some great acceptances. Congratulations (both on your acceptances and on realizing your dream of being able to stay in the States).

I know this is a nervous-making time. Williams is worth being nervous over -- it's a wonderful place.

I wish you all the best with all of your still-outstanding applications. You are going to have a terrific time next year wherever you.

P.S. If you find out that the message is supposed to come by email, be sure to check your spam folder. My daughter had a private scholarship notification deep six into hers (luckily for her, the company also sent a certified letter a week later but she has been scrambling to get the papers together on what was already very short notice).

Thanks, Grace. :) The fact that there is so little official information and so many rumors and speculations is making this already-stressful process so much harder, especially since I'm a bit of a control freak. ;) Calling the admissions office is a good idea.

The Williams admission site states that RD will be sent on 3-28. Good luck.

whoa whoa whoa does that mean the letter will be sent then? meaning we wont hear until like, after tomorrow? or...that we'll know tomorrow.

okay i just went there...and it said mailing. yikes! that's so exciting and yet soo scary!

Updated this afternoon on the Williams Admission site:

"RD Mailing Date.
The Committee on Admission will be mailing decision letters to all Regular Decision applicants on Wednesday, March 28. Those applicants living outside the U.S. will receive email notification of their decisions by March 30. We ask all applicants to wait until Tuesday, April 3 to receive their decision by mail or email before contacting the Office of Admission directly. Our staff will not release any decisions by phone or email before April 3, nor will we release any decisions to anyone but the applicant. We thank you for your patience during this busy admission season."

It may be that the office was getting so many phone inquiries (or even checked here and saw the confusion) that they decided to issue this afternoon's clarification.

Thank you, onemoremom. That was kind of you to post that.

So, camelia, you should be hearing very soon. You could still call about whether internationals living in the States should be checking their emails. Or you can try to gut it out. I'm not sure what I'd do (actually, I doknow what I personally would do: I'd call because I'm such a worrywart that I couldn't bear the thought that there could be a possibility that I might have to call on Tuesday when a live human being could give me the decision "in person" as I'd worry that I would disgrace myself with my reaction, whatever the answer was -- but that's just me).

In any event, to camelia and all the rest of you who wait, good luck. I am sure that the waiting has been made much more difficult by this trickling out of results. Please don't hold that against Williams and please don't go somewhere else because of it. If the answer is "yes," let it transform your life and just try to view these difficult last few months as a very protracted labor.

Thanks for posting this! I definitely wouldn't decide not to go to Williams based on this kind of minor detail, because that's just silly... we're all a bit frazzled right now, but having some concrete information definitely helps.

"....Those applicants living outside the U.S. will receive email notification of their decisions by March 30. We ask all applicants to wait until Tuesday, April 3 to receive their decision by mail or email before contacting the Office of Admission directly...."

so does this mean that even the rejected overseas applicants will get their decisions through e-mail? anyone?

^ I was wondering that too.

I'm frazzled, too. Vassar's sent acceptances to some international applicants by email, and I've heard nothing. I know I shouldn't be posting about another college here, but I really hope Williams sends me my decision by email, even if I'm rejected. (Vassar too.)

"so does this mean that even the rejected overseas applicants will get their decisions through e-mail?"

I would say yes -- the "decision" options include acceptances, waitlistings, or, sadly, neither of the two. The key words are: "will receive email notification of their decisions by March 30."

i have a strong feeling they'll send out acceptance emails before the other two, though.

Eeep! If they put stuff in the mail today, there's a chance MA people'll get decisions tomorrow... crosses fingers

has any international gotten your decisions through e-mail yet?

I live pretty close to Williams too, so I am expecting it to come today. The ED results only took a day to arrive in December for me...

No, I haven't gotten anything from Williams.

Nothing today in easter MA.

Nothing from Williams, its gonna arrive today or tomorrow!

OMG I GOT INTO WILLIAMS

I live like 10 minutes away, so I already got my decision - so don't get nervous if you haven't received anything!
