Windows on William 2019

Hi all!
Has anyone else applied to this fly-in program? And does anyone know what time results come out on July 20th?

Hey, I applied on July 5. My email says I’ll hear something back by July 20 though, which is strange because I missed the July 1 deadline. I hope it wasn’t a typo and I’ll hear back soon.

That’s interesting. Well, good luck to you and hopefully it comes out July 20th for you!

Thanks! You too. Although I’m an URM I don’t think I fit the intended income bracket so I don’t really expect to get accepted, unfortunately.

I applied for the July 1st deadline too. I am really nervous to hear back.

Also, good luck to everyone!

Just got an email back. Rejected, but was offered the phone call. Does everyone get the phone call or is this a good sign?

rejected with nothing lmao!!! i’m seriously not even good enough to get a fee waiver.

"Thank you for your interest in the Windows on Williams (WOW) program. This year’s WOW applicant pool is among the largest and strongest in the program’s history, and unfortunately, we cannot accept all of the fantastic students who applied. I’m sorry that we’re unable to include you in the program.

If you have any questions about the college application process, or if I can help in any way, please don’t hesitate to be in touch. I wish you all the best for a wonderful senior year."

Got rejected, as expected. No phone call offer but did get a fee waiver, which makes me think I might apply.

My daughter was accepted! We are both surprised and elated as she couldn’t have visited the school otherwise.

Congrats! Having heard many people rejected, I’m glad to hear that some have made it.

Did anyone who was rejected get the message that if admitted to Williams they would have “close consideration” for a travel grant for Williams Previews?

Yes I got that message.

Congrats to all that were accepted into WOW, it’s an amazing program and a great way to get to know the other members of the WOW cohort.

Anyone else who applied before the August 1st deadline?

I just got my acceptance letter! Does anyone know if getting into the WOW program helps actual admission acceptance?

I’ve heard that there is a very high chance you will get into the school itself based on past threads about this particular Fly-In and results. Congrats!

One of my son’s classmates at Williams who went to WOW said that at an assembly at the WOW program, the WOW students were told by someone from the college that most WOW students end up being admitted. You could ask at this year’s orientation if that is true.

So yes, being accepted to WOW is good news! “Most” does not mean the same as 100%, however, so be sure to put together a great application!

If you did not get into WOW, though, do not despair. There are also are postings and PM’s from kids who did not get into WOW but then later did get into Williams.

As a WOW attendee and a Williams QB Match Recipient, I would like to second what @TheGreyKing said. WOW attendees are told that come decision time, if they choose to apply, that they will receive VERY good news.

And from what i’ve gathered from the Williams QB chat, almost all of us Match recipients attended WOW (most not all, however!).

^^^For future reference and prospective students!

@V217N2Go, first congrats on your match!

I hope you and @TheGreyKing are right and being a WOW participants gives a boost. My daughter told me that as well, but she is not a URM, not first gen, and not eligible for QB. So I wonder if that actually moves her out of the WOW pool when it comes to admissions decisions. Hopefully, I"m just being an anxious mom!
