Didn’t see an “official” 2016 thread yet, so might as well.
Anyone else submit their app yet? Just submitted mine today and hoping for the best.

Still have yet to submit mine
Still working on mine
Best of luck! I remember when I visited with WoW years back. Naturally, as the program has become more popular and thus competitive, it’s a great idea to put solid work into the essay you send along.
Remember to focus on your story! Don’t be afraid to use “I” statements and share your unique experiences. At the same time, don’t be too discouraged if it ends up being the case that there’s not enough spots for you to visit in the fall. Tons of people visit during the spring, and if you qualify Williams will cover your airfare and stay to visit in the spring
Alternatively, there are also plenty of opportunities at schools like Dartmouth, Middlebury, Hamilton, and Bowdoin colleges that also offer diversity open houses. Google can help give a more comprehensive set of these opportunities.
I submitted mine on Friday!
accepted! it went straight to my spam folder
I’m in too! Hopefully I’ll see you there as well @Dartmouth_21
@676339784 which one are you going to? i chose september
@Dartmouth_21 I’ll probably be doing September as well - still have to ensure my calendar is fine so I haven’t booked it yet. Hope to see you there!
I got accepted! I’m so happy this is my dream college, wouldn’t have gotten the opportunity to visit without this.
@StuDYING4College that’s awesome! which date are you going to?
@Dartmouth_21 I’m not sure yet! I was thinking October since it’s closer to the Early Decision deadline and the experience would be fresher in my head. Congratulations on your acceptance !
D did not get in and was really bummed. I tried to tell her it’s not her per se, she has great stats, but the fact her dad and I both have masters degrees. We live in a very affluent area and are only low income for this area, not the country at large. One public servant wage earner. I am very grateful she did get the app fee/CSS fee waiver and the opportunity to have a phone call with admissions, that sounds more than generous. She is thinking she will have to stick with U of Califs now, and has never been to the East Coast. Sigh.
@Dartmouth_21 @StuDYING4College When did you all submit your application?
@j_anonymous I submitted mine a month prior to the first deadline and got my acceptance notification yesterday.
@j_anonymous before the priority deadline, in the beginning of june
@Dartmouth_21 @StuDYING4College Thank you both. I waited to submit mine after AP score results, so it’ll probably take longer. Hopefully I get some good news too.
@Dartmouth_21 @676339784 @StuDYING4College and anyone else who was accepted… First of all, congratulations! Second, I’m applying for the August deadline, and I was just wondering how you structured your essays. Did you mostly focus on describing your neighborhood and how if affects you, or did you incorporate your accomplishments and other aspects that might be attractive to Williams? I hate how there’s nowhere in the application for leadership and extracurricular involvement, so I’d like to include it somewhere in the essay. Do you think it’s necessary or could be beneficial?
Also does anyone know how selective WOW is and if there’s a big difference in the acceptance rate for each deadline?
***edit: just read on the Eph blog that it’s about 1/6, so never mind. :-SS
@eyrar99 describe your neighborhood and how it has shaped your interests, your acceptance of others, etc. they want to know your background basically. it shouldnt talk about accomplishments or anything unless its related to something your community incentivized you to achieve. in their email they said they were “on track to getting 1000 applicants” and there are like 200 spots
