For those of you whose unofficial transcript loads… I was curious to see how my credits transferred, so I clicked the DARS report (in the upper right hand corner), and selected my major for the audit. I got this:

Sociology - UW Seattle 06:58 p.m. 11/18/10

Then, I checked back a few hours later and it says:

Sociology PENDING 07:32 p.m. 11/18/10

Do your guys’ DARS report load, or do you get a similar message?

They did mine same day. However, I drove to the UW and hand delivered it to the registrars office right when they opened on Monday. Also, if this thread is any indication, I might have been ahead of the pack of notifications so…they could’ve gotten bogged down with other new students after me

I got my admissions letter on the 16th and my unofficial transcript was not loaded until a day after I got the letter (and all it has is my student number, major, etc, no actual class information) - so keep your hopes up!

UW was the only university I applied for, some I’m excited I got in.

For those who are curious about stats:
I graduate from BC this quarter with my AA
GPA: 3.94
Residency: Local (Washington)
Major: ESRM
Major prep: I completed my chemisty series, language req. (three years, that way they count towards my BS degree), statistics, etc. In other words, most completed.

Extracurricular? NONE
Don’t have time. I work full time in procurement at a big airplane company. I started college 7 years ago and had to quit after my husband was laid off from work. So I worked my way up to a decent job, started community college 3 years ago (2 classes a quarter, summer off). Now I just have to figure out how the heck I’m going to commute from home to work to UW to work and then back home again. I think Im going to have to fork over the $423 for a quarterly parking pass. Ick.

Oh, and the measles vaccination requirement bites. If you think your getting in, find your proof now! I had to go in for a blood test asap. They want proof submitted 2 weeks prior to orientation. My orientation is on Dec. 8th - my test results are due back early next week. I’ll be barely in time!

How much was your blood test? I don’t have health insurance right now and don’t think we have my shot records anymore, so I’m a bit worried about the cost…

I was notified I was in on Saturday. Immediately made an appointment with my doctor for monday. I had my blood drawn for this on monday. The results came back thursday afternoon and I immediately .pdf’d it and sent it to hall health.

Couldn’t tell you how much it costs, as I have insurance. Sorry.

So I have a bit of a problem-- the packet says proof of immunizations must be provided no less than two weeks before orientation… My packet came on Nov 20th, a week and a half before my orientation, December 2nd. Because it’s the weekend I still need to track that stuff down, and possibly schedule a doctor’s appointment to get my blood drawn, let alone give them time to prepare/send the results… has anyone else run into this? It says if you get this information in less than two weeks, your admission will be changed to a “space available basis”. I’m nervous. This is bs! haha but seriously.

Do you really have a date for Dec. 2? The earliest date I was allowed to pick from was Dec. 8. How you were you able to pick a date before you paid your NSEOF? If you got the packet yesterday…I’d assume you couldn’t have paid it yet since you have to do it via mail or in person.

Regardless, I had planned on rescheduling my orientation to a later date if my results from the blood work didn’t come back on time. It luckily did, so I didn’t. I wasn’t about to risk the consequences of not having the info sent in 2 weeks in advance.

On the Enrollment confirmation instructions it says to reserve your place you must pay the NSEOF by [December 2, 2010. I assumed that was the orientation date, but you’re saying it’s not and you get to pick? That is good news, considering I work that day.

and I was planning on deferring the NSEOF, at least until I figured out if getting the blood work would be costly.

Nope that’s just the date you pay by, or you’ll lose your spot. And yes, you should get to pick. After your nseof is confirmed pay for you’ll go to this orientation website where you log in and then pick from a range of dates…tons of options to pick from.

IF I were you…I’d call Hall Health and ask them how much it would cost for them to draw the blood at your own cost w/out insurance. I know they will do it, I just don’t know the cost.

OR try calling the Country Doctor. I’ve heard they’re good and quite helpful for those w/out insurance. (It’s sliding scale) [Country Doctor Community Health Center - Country Doctor Community Clinic](<a href=“CDCHC – Community Health Centers”>CDCHC – Community Health Centers). I don’t know if they’ll do blood tests, but you don’t know unless you ask.

If I were to apply for summer or fall quarter, do you know if UW still looks at your winter/spring grades? And if not, would it benefit you to send them in or do they just disregard them completely? I’ve calculated everything, and if I were to take 20 credits per quarter until the end of summer, i’ll have my AA degree. So would it benefit me to apply for summer, or wait until winter?

I did a bit of math… 3 quarters of 20 credits is 60 credits. It’s fall, and you say you’re a freshman and probably taking around 15 credits, and have some credits from high school that would put you at 90 credits for the AA… sorry if that was wierd to guess haha

A few tips that come to mind:
UW actually doesn’t care about the AA. They do care you have over 90 credits, but most importantly that you’ve completed pre-req’s for your intended major. Focus on pre-req’s, not the AA requirement. Many students are on financial aid and forced to work toward the AA, but if you don’t have to, don’t because it doesn’t benefit your ultimate goal of getting into UW

I hate to say it, but I would apply for winter 2012. I don’t know when the fall deadline is but I believe it’s early spring. The winter deadline is, as you know, September, which would show all your completed coursework for that application cycle. Saying that you’re going to complete 40 more credits would not be as impressive as if your transcript showed them completed with A’s. Secondly, for grades, if they are not as high with your 20 credits, admissions will noticed and not be as impressed. I had the same goal and when I spoke with an admissions counselor she told me that they would admit a student who took 10 credits per quarter and got a 4.0 over one who took 20 with a lower GPA becuase the first student has demonstrated they know how to balance and maintain their coursework and are retaining more information than the second one who is cramming. Applying for winter quarter would allow you to take fall quarter classes and achieve the same goal. I know it’s hard to wait longer, but better to get in Winter than not get in Fall.

Pay attention to what your coursework is and make sure you’re fulfilling the Gen Ed requirements, especially foreign language. Good luck.
I know it sucks to wait, but better to plan everything out.

I know one person isn’t much to go by but I know somebody who transfered from Western to UWash quite easily with similar statistics. How many quarter credits do you have? You might just need to hang on another quarter.

I’ll have 32 credits at the end of the quarter. That’s crazy. What was their major? I know several people who have tried transferring with Western to UW without any luck. They had pretty good GPA’s as well. I think it’ll honestly just benefit me more if I go to BC

First, congrats to everyone who have been accepted See you on campus soon!

@Sepheeroth, as a freshman, over the summer I never received confirmation on my measles immunization form… I emailed and called Hall Health to confirm that they received my form (with no luck getting through…)… and ended up just showing up in person to confirm my immunization records, which they had received. Someone did email me back about my records… 2 weeks after my orientation already happened. They may be quicker to respond and easier to get a hold of since this isn’t in the middle of the summer, but you may end up having to do what I did. :/
