is the winter break really only 2 weeks? do the final exams keep on going until the 19th of Dec.?

yep. Winter break usually starts earlier... I guess they've changed it.

Not everyone has finals up until the 19th, so it's just luck. I almost always end up with friday finals, but some people finish up earlier in the week and go home.

Winter break is really short, but thats because we get out really early so that the co-op cycle can start in May. I got out 2-3 weeks before any of my friends from other colleges got out.

Emily2007 and RedSox2007 -
I'm going to Northeastern next fall. It's not where I expected to end up when I started the search process - but I'm glad it's evolved this way. My question: do you love Northeastern?

I really like Northeastern. If you ask around, most students here will tell you that the best parts of NU are Boston and Co-op. Boston is a great place to be a student and we're really in a great location with a great campus. Co-op has turned out to be really amazing. People talk about co-op as being great experience to put on a resume, and it is--but the greatest thing for me and most people I know, is that it's a way to explore your field and figure out what kind of work you really want to end up doing. Also, academically I've found a major I love and feel like I have a lot of great opportunities.

Overall, nu has turned out to be a good fit for me. The size, location, student lifestyle, academics, the 5-year program, and the kinds of available opportunities.

Northeastern wasn't where I expected to be either. I have yet to go on co-op so I don't have anything to say about it yet, but I have been doing research with a chemistry professor of mine and I am going to Philly in August to give a presentation at the National American Chemical Society meeting. If it weren't for Northeastern, I would not have had this opportunity. I really how everything was within walking distance in the city. ANYTHING you could possibly need is within walking distance. Music stores, electronic stores, off-campus book stores, art supply stores, etc. I just really like the location and the opportunities that NEU has presented me with. If 2 years ago you asked me where I would be going to school, NEU wouldn't have even crossed my mind. However, like Emily, NEU is a great fit for me.

Thanks to you both for the information. It's great to hear. Interesting to hear that you have a similar experience to me in the selection process re: NU - not what would've crossed your mind....In fact, I am honestly still getting used to the idea...collecting so much positive information that I know it's going to be great. To make the final decision I compared the schools I was accepted to using a list of items that are important to me (size, location, academics, social life, cost) and NU won. But, overall on a 'gut' sense I never would've predicted this.
