I'm Done, but i know a few people who are taking SATs on January 28th. This is weird because our Winter Formal 2006 is on January 27th. If you were a Senior in high school, would you rather go to you LAST winter formal or try to do better (way better or worse) on you LAST SATs?

WF. If it takes that much effort to get into a choice school, then perhaps one doesn't really belong there.

Winter Formal, def.

EDIT: I hate tests are scheduled within a day of a big school event, the PSAT was on my school's homecoming day :(

Do both. I got 4 hours of sleep the night before I took the ACT because I had been at a country music festival. I got a 30 composite, 35 english, 34 reading, 25 math, 25 science.

We have the June SATs the day after Prom most years.

winter formal. sat's aren't worth it.

Eh, it's just winter formal. Big deal.

Think of it this way: Going to college or winter formal?

Or you could do what Molly did and still score well?

SAT scores don't really matter that much. Enjoy life and go to the Winter Formal.

i'd do both. maybe being less stressed for your sats could help your score; and if you did so badly on the first sat that you needed a much higher score for the schools you want, then chances are you wouldnt do much better on january's sat either. when you look back on high school wouldnt you rather remember the winter formal than the sats?

I would do the sat. What will affect your future more. A little dance or a test which determines your destiny. In fifteen years, you won't even remember the winter formals. They will be a blur.

Winter Formal... Your Senior year only happens once

OMG I hate my school for this!

PSAT - 1 week before homecoming
SAT, Nov - day of garba (Indian thing)
SAT, Dec - day before first winter dance
SAT, Jan - day after second winter dance
Junior Prom (!!) - Friday before AP's begin (I can't go!)

And those are just my test/event conflicts for this year. I'm sure there are others.

To answer the OP's question, I'd probably go to the Winer Formal. It wouldn't be worth retaking unless if I could raise my score significantly (>50 points) without exhausting myself.

Plus, this is why I took it so early (November of junior year, January of junior year, and October of senior year if necessary; if something unexpected happens, I still have three more test dates). :P

OR you could sleep a whole lot like THURSDAY night, and enjoy friday night, try not to stay out toooo late and hope for the best :)
it's so do-able, really, i've gone with 3 nights without sleep and did fine on the practice AP exam test we had . . . not the same length though.. if you do, make sure to take a "stimulant" with you, chocolate works for me .. but this is your last winter formal ever, you haaave to go, plus this is probably a makeup day for them anyway, so if they studied enough from the last time they did sat's, they'll be alright.

Some of you guys should try to ask your school if they consider these things when they schedule events. Maybe you could get them to move it back a week or something.

do both or winter formal. SATs really aren't worth it. although, I stink at standardized testing, so...

my prom this year is the weekend before APs...thankfully, I don't have APs until later in that week, so it is all good.

Well, I'd probably skip the dance regardless (I dislike our school dances - prom is all I'm doing), and go hang out with friends.

But assuming that I'd want to go to formal in the first place, I'd do both (go to an afterparty for like an hour), go home, pass out, drink a Starbucks frappachino before the test, keep gatorades out in the hall, and then sleep the rest of the day. Or drink some more caffiene and go out with friends again.

winter formal all the way

Winter Formal. It is an important part of social life.

Ugh...SAT's? It would be more important for most girls I know to do the formal but SAT's should take priority. Ah, the beauty of Aptitude tests - you shouldn't do WAY BETTER or WAY WORSE based on overnight prep. Just get a solid 6-8hrs sleep and - perhaps more importantly - eat a good breakfast and at least make sure you have energy but are not jittery. Honestly I could care less about frivolous events like "homecoming" "prom" "blank dance" etc. but I don't see why you can't do both if it is that important to you. Last dance I was dragged to I was out by 11.

Do both, or forget the formal and do the test. But I'm biased... I don't like events like that. (Not that I like SATs, don't get the wrong idea... just that, they influence what you'll do for the next 4 years)
