Winter Grades

I’m currently in the process of transferring, and I’ll be taking winter intersession classes at a different college. I was reading over the UC Transfer FAQ, and it says,

“3.Up to when do the UC’s look at your grades?
The fall semester before you transfer. After you apply, they will send you another application during january to fill out your fall grades. The deadline for the application is usually around the end of feburary. So for those who have winter intersession the application will usually be due before the winter grades are out. That’s why I don’t think they really look at your winter grades unless it’s really important, such as a major prereq class.”

The winter intersession ends by January and the final grades will be out by then, so I can update the application with my winter grades along with fall grades, and they will be able to see my grades up until that point with spring classes in progress. It seems the above applies to schools with winter classes still in progress when the application is due. Will my winter grades considered for admission purposes, or will they be part of the grades I need to maintain my last semester to keep my acceptance, if I am admitted? Will grade trends be considered? I’ll be taking GE classes, not major prereqs.

They only look at GPA through fall to make it fair for all students. They may or may not take the winter grades into consideration – their choice – but the courses won’t be calculated into the GPA.

I think the stance is that the UCs can’t “guarantee” that they’ll look at courses past Fall semester/quarter, BUT will incorporate ALL courses that they receive in time for admissions consideration (including GPA calculations).

For UC Berkeley Economics, I had two Winter quarter courses and a Winter intersession (semester) course that were all factored into my GPA/Admissions. I know for a fact that UCLA, UCSD, and UCSB also incorporated these grades in the same capacity for my case.
