I’m not sure why but I’m always kicking myself seeing the relatively “low” ratings that Wisconsin gets on college ranking websites. I know I’m supposed to take these ratings with ‘a grain of salt,’ but I feel slightly dumb seeing how other universities like Michigan rank so much higher. People have said that Wisconsin is a great university but is it looked as highly upon as its peers like umich or berkely or is it just an average school? I guess what I’m trying to say is, will I be looked down upon for attending uw-madison?
Certainly you should not be looked down upon by going to UW. However, with the more elite schools that you mention, and depending on your major, they may have greater access to elite jobs in some cases. After that, it’s up to you.
The student experience at UW has no rival.
Finally, it is very difficult to budge rankings, such as US News and World Report. Understand the ranking system and see how close these schools really are. There are not miles of difference between Michigan’s stats and Wisconsin stats.
