Withdrawal of other applications

So I was recently accepted to Cornell via ED, and have paid the enrollment deposit and such. I then sent out emails to the other schools to which I applied (UC campuses and a small private) telling them to no longer consider me, but I haven’t gotten word back from any of them about it. Should I take any additional steps to try to cancel these apps or just wait it out? Can I be held at fault if these schools do not withdraw my apps?

Did any of those schools give you an applicant ID/password to sign onto a university website?? I know most schools have that where u can withdraw ur application with a couple clicks after signing in

I think what you’d have to do is simply reject admission offers from other universities when they accept you and give you the option to do so.

When my daughter was accepted ED few years ago, she simply emailed other schools to withdraw her application. Most of those schools replied within days, but she did it before the holidays. As long as you have emailed other schools then you are not in violation of the ED contract. You can’t do what jkr119 is suggesting.

After some googling, I found the UC suggested methods for withdrawal from each campus. Apparently UCSD wants the withdrawal sent by mail. As for that private college, my application is considered incomplete since I never sent them test scores or my transcript. Should I still worry myself with trying to withdraw that app too?

You probably should still officially withdraw since you started the application process to the private college. It’s just a quick email and you’re done.

Also, it may be more efficient to email your specific admissions counselor as opposed to the general admissions email.

My D withdrew by email and included the ID they gave her to track her application when she applied. She did receive an acknowledgement within a few days from the admissions rep. She also archived the email correspondence in case of any problem.

@jkr119 you are totally wrong. Once accepted ED, you cannot wait for acceptances from other colleges and then reject the offer(s). You need to withdraw all other apps from consideration immediately.

agree with annwank @jkr119, – from your other posts, you’re an ED2 applicant. You should re-read the requirements of that agreement since your understanding of Cornell’s ED is insufficient. Make sure you’re not messing up anything under your current ED2 scenario.

We called the admissions office and they provided us with an email address and the contact persons name.
We emailed that person explaining her withdrawing and the reason. We heard back in about a weeks time.
We have not deleted the emails as of yet.
