Withdrawing Applications

I called Brown, and they requested a letter for application withdrawals (even if I haven't actually submitted anything - I just made an account on the website). How do I go about phrasing this request? (And who do I address it to?)

if you havent submitted an actual application, then you dont need to withdraw anything...infact, if you dont even complete your application fully (by not sending in SAT scores/transcripts/everything that is required) then you'll just be put down as an incomplete applicant and they wont even consider you

I called the admissions office, though, and she said that I should send a formal letter anyway. I asked my GC about this, and she suggested that I send at least an email. I do think it's a bit unnecessary, but I suppose it's better to err on the side of caution.

Look, if you think it's unnecessary and you're not planning on going there. Then screw their stupid policy. Where are u going out of curiosity?

Columbia. I just got my decision yesterday. (:

Wow, congratulations, screw the withdrawal process at Brown. Mind posting your stats?

Thank you! My stats:

SAT: 2360 (800M/800CR/760W)
SAT II: 730 Chem, 780 Bio M, 790 USH, 800 MIIC
APs: APUSH - 5, AP Bio - 5
GPA: 5.16W, don't know unweighted
Rank: 2/~260
Courseload: Toughest courseload w/ 3 APs junior year and 5 this year.

EC's: Lit Mag, Multicultural Council, part-time job, volunteering at senior center (nothing truly remarkable or unique compared to some people on here)
Essay: Well-written, I think. Thoughtful and reflective. Topic might not have been very unique, though.
Counselor rec: Awesome. She really believed in me.
Teacher recs: One from a French teacher - I'm sure it was awesome. Another from AP Bio teacher. It was probably more generic, since he didn't know me as well. But I'm sure he said nice things.

Ethnicity: Chinese
Gender: Female

Don't think I could've gotten in RD. My school hasn't ever sent anyone to Columbia, so this came as a very, very pleasant surprise.

ANYWAY. About this withdrawal thing. I think I'm going to send it in anyway, just to make sure.

You should do the request...

well i think this should be the least of your problems.. but congratulations!

Mail (not email) the following letter to each school:
Admissions Office, X University

Dear Sir/Madam,

I wish to withdraw my application for admission to X.

signed,
Applicant
by the time typed in all this stuff up you could have sent the darn email 10 times

jeesh
