Withdrawing?

Has anyone ever withdrawn for SD?

I've only been at SD for this past quarter... I'm a freshman and I'm seriously considering to dropout to go to my local CC instead....

What's the process like; do they really care?

Nope, not really. You just fill out a one-page form in your college’s advising center, and hand it to them. Oh, and don’t forget to withdraw from housing :]

Just for curiosity, why do you want to withdraw? Is it because you miss your family? You don’t like it there?

"I’m currently a freshman at UCSD and I’m seriously considering dropping out to attend a CC and eventually go to USC.

I know I can try transferring from UCSD to USC but I did really bad this quarter and I know that in order to be competitive, I should have at least a 3.8 GPA and I’m not anywhere close.

I came into UCSD deciding to go the whole premed track as I’m still currently undecided for my major. I took classes like chem and hated it; it just wasn’t for me and it really screwed up my GPA.

And even if I stay at UCSD and do well my next 2 quarters (as in ace all my classes), my GPA still wouldn’t be near a 3.8 because I really just did that bad…

The thing is will it be harder for me to transfer from a CC to USC considering that I went to UCSD previously?

I’m really interested in communications and I know USC’s School of Annenberg is great so that’s another reason I want to transfer. I was also wondering is it possible to take classes from Annenberg and Marshall or no… I could only be admitted under one school?

I also applied to USC my senior year in high school but was ultimately rejected if that helps that I did really want to go there because I also appealed.

And nothing is wrong with UCSD; I usually get a lot of people saying why would I want to transfer out. It’s just not for me… I personally don’t feel happy there and yeah, college is what you make of it and I’m still involved but honestly, the surroundings of SD isn’t as appealing and it’s more of a science based school and I don’t think I’m going in that track anymore."

-gbyejunebug’s only other post on CC.

If you aren’t happy than don’t stay and waste time and money. JUst. Be motivated and do what you really want

That’s a really sad post. Premed at UCSD is unreal. You have to want it so bad to actually succeed. (Hence why I am not a science major :))

Good luck to the OP

Yes, I really don’t think premed is just for me any more sad though since I’ve wanted to become a doctor since like 3rd grade…

But yeah I’m still jumping around. The reason I want to is because SD doesn’t really have a business program-they have Management Science but I’m thinking something specific would be better, like finance for example and USC has certain concentrations you can choose from.

But I might just go through at least this year at UCSD because what if I end up hating econ too which then I’ll be seriously clueless as to what I want to major in. I think I’ll like communications but I don’t want that to be my only major. I really want to double up.

But no, haha, I don’t miss my family that much, if anything I actually miss my actual home/room and the city I’m from. AND being able to drive :)

thankies though to all who posted

gbyejunebug: Don’t be afraid to try a little of every flavor. You really have until ~3rd year to officially claim a major.
