Hi! I'm a transfer student and my admission for the Fall of 2011 has been withdrawn as a result of not completing my provisional contract (TAG) when my overall GPA dropped below a 3.0 (2.967). I am still dying to go to UCSD though, so what should I do now? I will appeal and provide evidence that this past year has been hard for me with my upper division math and chemistry courses. However, do I stand a chance of still getting in? Please help me get through this so I can continue on with my education without wasting another year at community college.

I don’t know many details about transfer agreements, but my gut feeling is that telling UCSD you couldn’t handle the academic workload of your classes may not be a good idea …

true, i meant i would tell them about my family struggles and how much i had to deal with within the past year that affected my school work. i already talked to an admissions officer yesterday and she rudely told me over the phone that i did not stand a chance even if im so close to a 3.0. but i think its worth a shot!

A way of determining whether the 3.0 GPA requirement is set in stone (and if it is, you’d know to drop your efforts) is to browse the CC archives of all the other UCs and see whether anybody’s been able to successfully petition their way through. I’d be wary of calling the admissions office for this information since there’s considerable turnover for those staffing positions.

That’s a very good idea, thanks! Do you know where I would be able to find the CC archives?

will you keep us updated with the progress and decision? my guy friend is sort of going through the same thing so i want to help him get as much info as possible. thankss
