Dear all,

I've been reading Collegeconfidential for years and personally appreciate all of your comments and suggestions. I really need your help at this times.

I'm a senior in high school, already sent in my application for 12 colleges, including some top-notched and Harvard. However, I went through the whole application process in and out the hospital with difficulties due to health issues and another difficult family issue at the same time. Hence, my emotional and physical stress would definitely affect my grade in senior year (drop down to 3.8) and the application.

I've been thinking of taking a gap year to set my whole mind clear and re-apply next year. However, I understand that it would affect my chances next year if I got rejected once.

My stats are great until this senior year. >2300 SAT, bunch of APs, several of international leaderships awards, research, lots of community services. But I'm not satisfied with my essays at all. I seriously did a badly on the essays.

So do you think it's a good idea to withdraw my application and start fresh next year?

Thank you guys so much.

P.S: I'm an international student and really set my mind on Harvard
