I was admitted and plan to attend UW-Madison this fall and I was really looking forward to being apart of the WISE learning community. A few days ago, I got an email saying that it was chose at random and I wasn’t chosen. I was just wondering if other girls got this email too because I haven’t seen people talk about it and I’m really sad 
Cheer up. You will still have a fantastic freshman year. You will meet other women with similar interests in your classes. It is good to see so much interest in WISE but most will not be in it. We women of science have all sorts of personalities and like many different dorms- I used to trek between a dorm I would never live in and my own to see other women in my chemistry major. No specialty houses eons ago and I’m not sure I would have chosen WISE in some of the past dorms used. The plus side is that you will be exposed to women living with you who are diverse.
