Women's World Cup -- who's watching?

Loving this Nigeria-Canada game. Feels frenetic. Can’t wait for the US to play tomorrow.

Oh, and get this – ds1 and his wife are finally taking the honeymoon to NZ they always wanted (thanks, Covid) and got tix to a game in Wellington! I just found this out tonight!

ETA: I’m going to be sleep deprived by the end of the tourney.

OK, guess I’m the only one watching. Great game! The Nigerian goalie had an amazing game.

Let’s go :philippines:.

That a tough call against :philippines:

The penalty on Cowart :philippines:that led to Bachmann’s :switzerland:goal? Yes, tough call.

I’ve been watching all of the games! I was really hoping Canada would pull out a win–that was a tough game for them. I think the match against Ireland will be equally tough.

You are not the only one. H and I both enjoy watching. My SIL is a huge fan. My GD’s first birthday party this weekend has a “Women’s World Cup” theme!

I don’t know my flags but I recognized the player named for the Philippines. I have a family member who came oh so close to being on that team.

OK, well, if you can’t beat 'em, foul 'em!

I’m watching

I was watching, but my anxiety was getting too high. If it’s two teams I don’t give two figs about, I’m fine, but watch a team I care about…

You can turn it back on. It’s not as nerve-wracking now.

That was a lackluster performance against an undersized Vietnamese team.

I watched the USA vs Vietnam but I will confess that I just can’t love soccer/futbol the way I love basketball.

Completely agree. Alex Morgan misses a PK? Some less than stellar ball play. Rapinoe looked either “old” or not in soccer shape.

That Haitian goalie got a workout. Too bad Haiti’s offense couldn’t muster much. Definitely had chances.

Agreed on Rapinoe. She struggled to connect passes and couldn’t put a ball on frame to save her life.

I didn’t find the US game lackluster.

There was lots of great ball movement and individual plays. There is definitely room for improvement around the box (folks need to finish those crosses from Trinity).

I also think the refereeing needs to improve in this tournament
