thinking about applying to their urban studies program- I want to aid in the revitalization of the Philadelphia Metro area

According to my calculations your odds are 36% ED to the college. You lost 2% points for not listing a job, so add those if you've held one, and 2 more if you've held another. Plus, my algorithm may have an error, and the actual odds may be 6-10 points higher.

In sum: essays+good=in. Same as for everyone else.

"thinking about applying to their urban studies program- I want to aid in the revitalization of the Philadelphia Metro area"

I think this could be HUGE in your why penn essay. If you're passionate about it, make sure you mention it.

btw, in general good chances. rank/SAT might be a little too low, but overall not bad.

I actually work in a homework center at the local YMCA afterschool program. I sometimes tutor the kids that need it. I mainly get elementary kids.

that helps. i think essays that have passion and mesh well will do well. you can use your experience to set up why to want to revitalise philadelphia, and thus why urban studies, and thus why penn. so yes, you look good, and i agree overall with stambliark41, except that SAT's get are a little less important for URMs.
