I was wondering about my chances at top universities, namely Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, and Michigan. I just got back a 35 on my act which puts me above all of their averages, but I don’t have the grades of someone that gets a 35. Unweighted I have a 3.667, weighted 3.989. My gpa has been consistently rising since freshman year, with me receiving a 3.9 this past junior year, and have taken all honors/AP classes that I was offered (minus junior year english). I’m wondering if my high act score could make me a competitive applicant at these universities, or if my gpa is weighing me down too much. I’m pretty involved in my school, and have an interesting and compelling family story that would make for some good essays, but I’m still unsure of whether or not I should even consider these schools. Any advice?
I think you have a good chance and would consider them matches.
I forgot to mention that within my school I’m not in the top 10% of class rank, its more like top 15% weighted top 20% unweighted. I feel like that might play a part.
Don’t rule yourself out. Class rank is important but where you go to school has a lot to do with the significance of say top 10 percent. D is going to Notre dame next fall and she had a 3.8 uw
