Woo Hoo! I Got Accepted! Who Else Did?

thanks, hope u get in too.

If you did Priority (EA), and have the "We are unable..." message online still, then you have most likely been Waitlisted or Deferred. I am going by people who live in Maryland and had the online message and got letters in the mail today.

Good news / bad news

Got a UM letter in mail today saying could not make a decision on application yet. Requested first semester HS grades and final decision by Arpil 1. Good news is senior HS grades were very good (better than Jr year), for both sem 1 and 2.

I guess this is better than a total rejection :-)

Good luck to all....

Wow...this is def. news for me that i've either been rejected or deferred..live outside the US so i should be getting the mail on monday!:(

tamy02,

Deferred or Rejected or Waitlisted. Although one person I know who had the message got their stuff in too late and now has to wait RD.

Deferral or Waitlist does not mean its over. See http://www.collegeconfidential.com/college_admissions/deferral.htm ("College Admissions: Dealing with Deferrals and Waitlists," some good advice in there). Also explains the difference between deferral or waitlist. Those who I know who did get waitlisted were admitted for the Spring, but have to wait to see if they can go in the Fall as well.

Also, no mail on Monday due to Presidents' Day. Sorry.

Ah, 2 of my friends who got waistlisted last year did eventually get in. :) Good luck to you and terpwannabe.

I got my official package in the mail today! Thinner then I expected. ;(

Can someone explain this to me- "Housing NOT guaranteed until confirmation/assignment is received from Resident Life Aggreement sent on Feb. 17, 2005." Meaning what? O_o

aroundthecorner, do you live in maryland? i didn't get my package =P

aroundthecorner, were the 2 friends waitlisted or deferred?

I live in Maryland. =) And my two friends were waitlisted.

Marc & AC

Are you calling "waitlisted" what I got today (decision by 4/1 pending first semester HS grades review)? is that deferred? Or something else?

I feel SOOOO bad for some of my friends. I went into school so excited after finding out about my acceptance and then during lunch a bunch of us went up to check everyone elses status. Quite a few who were intending on going to Maryland if they were accepted(ie... much more devoted to the school then I) were deferred or waitlisted. Of course, there was tons of crying, harsh generalizations made, and such but I just feel bad... Some of these kids only applied to two schools because they were confident they'd get into UMD and this is just a big blow.

To all who were deferred... don't get down about it and I'm sure everything will work out for the best.

My d. is pretty devastated...no actual notification yet, but it looks like either rejected or waitlisted. UMD has been her choice since before her freshmen year. It's very sad for her considering her major isn't offered in her state. Maybe a waitlist will be offered....so that would be some hope. Do you automatically get put on a waitlist or do they ask if you'd like to put on a waitlist?

Question to all of you who were waitlisted or deferred? Does it tell you that when you check the status of your admission? Or do you just have the general statement that has been up there, that the decision is not completed yet. I'm curious because my d didn't hear anything, but she also didnt apply by the priority deadline....

S received Honors, Gemstone, Humanities

The on-line status never changed (from no decision yet...) but I got a letter today with the deferral notice.

terpwannabe,

I am calling "decision by 4/1 pending first semester HS grades review" as Deferred.

I am calling "we have accepted you for Spring '06 but not for Fall '05; you'll hear back as early as the next couple of weeks or as late as June" as Waitlisted.

Please correct me if I am using the wrong terms.

terpwannabe,

Then I guess I'm most likely deffered. But I didn't apply by the priority deadline.
I just hope for best.

Marc,

Those terms are what I assumed, thanks for the clarification.

Now the question is whether to send an additional rec letter along with the first semester grade update. Assume I will now be judged along with regular deadline applicants. Thanks.

I got in to UMaryland as well and the College Park Scholars Program
