I finally got accepted to UT as an undergraduate yesterday! I paid my enrollment deposit today. How soon will I know if I got accepted into my designated major or not?

I listed Biology or Undeclared(Pre-Pharmacy) as my major!

My HSR is 38/680 and my ACT is 27.

If I don't get accepted into Biology, would it matter since my backup plan is undeclared for pre-pharmacy?

Congrats! Biology isn’t too competitive of a major but I don’t want to make any predictions on how long it’ll take for them to accept you. In any case, if you plan on taking Intro Bio, Intro Chem, Calc 1 and a UGS, then it won’t make much of a difference what your major is as those classes are available to everyone. Don’t sweat it, just enjoy the rest of Senior year. Congrats again!

Your admission into a particular school is where the quality of your overall application is a determining factor. Your test scores, essays, etc now matter and you are competing against out of state students and students from all over the country from college prep schools who are not auto-admit, but are fiercely academically competitive. Best wishes on getting into the major of your choice and going on to Pharmacy school, if that is what you ultimately decide.

i assume you are top 9%?
What is your actual rank?

I’m a bit confused by the my status thing…cuz currently mine is showing application status as “Completed/ontime” with Congruatz you qualify for admission at UT Austin etc…But for my friend who just got into biochemistry, his status page is showing Congratz, you have been admitted to UT Austin, with app status as “admitted”.

I’m top 7 of my class, i’m wondering if i’m actually admitted yet with the “You qualify for admission”? I do have the drop down tab thing for “accept or decline your offer for admission” tho. Just want to check…

I applied for Cockrell engineering, for both first and second choice…so I guess with my not so great class rank, I have to prepare myself to wait until Feb…

A&M on the other hand, accepted me into first choice engineering without any hassle…

Congrats on the acceptance! UT is awesome, I love it

For all natural science majors, there is no competition to get into the pre-major (Your major will technically be pre-Biology), and you need to maintain a certain GPA in the intro courses to get into the official Biology major. I’m a pre- Computer Science major, and in order to get into the Comp Sci major, I need to get a 2.5 or higher in calc 2 and three specified lower division CS classes (CS 312, 313K, and 314). Since you are pre-Pharm, hopefully getting a 2.5 in your pre-Bio classes will be easy. Good luck and hook 'em!

im1knight, I was in the top 9%. My class rank was 38/680. The “you qualify for admission” part means that you’ve been automatically accepted due to your class rank.

I believe that you haven’t received their decision upon your major yet because you applied to the Cockrell School of Engineering which is more competitive than the College of Natural Sciences I think.
