Just wanted to share that with y'all. Even though I knew I was going to get in through automatic admission, the anxiety was killing me. However I don't find out if I got into my major until February.
UT is my first choice and I will be attending next fall regardless of whether I get into my desired major.

Congratulations on your acceptance into UT :P

How do you know that you don’t get your decision for your desired major until february?

Thanks Shugo
When I went last month to visit UT, the admissions people said that since business and engineering are the most competitive majors they must look at the entire applicant pool. This includes out of state and international. They don’t fill up spaces on a first-come-first-serve basis like A&M, they look at the most qualified. Since their target date for informing non auto-admits is late february, that’s when the auto-admits will learn if they got into the competitive majors. Hope that explains it.

I got accepted as well through automatic admission. However, I applied as an aerospace engineer and I think the university already placed me in my field. Instead of saying aerospace and mechanical engineer, it now just says aerospace engineering. So I don’t know if that means that I’m in or not.

I jst checked the my status site and at the bottom of the admissions page it says that all official decisions will be mailed to the permanent adress.

I didn’t read that, but I did read that it’ll take a bit longer to get accepted into the majors because people need to be considered so only the very best get in. I think this means UT doesn’t do rolling admissions like Texas A&M, which I hope their aerospace engineering hasn’t filled up. I’ll most likely attend A&M if UT doesn’t cover all, or most, of my cost of attendance. I can only hope for the best.
