Daughter found financial aid on portal after getting onto the admissions portal and clicking “important decision update”
I think my son goofed up and applied RD.
Oh well. I doubt they are going to close the gap that much.
@Billb7581 My daughter applied EA and is also awaiting Wooster’s f/a package. Your son got accepted, yes?
Yes he was accepted
So we wait…
@Billb7581 Just received their f/a package. We got nothing, making it $42,000. Off the list.
Not far off of that at this point. I am fairly certain COW is going to be way above my budget.
WOW! You mean it is a full ride on tuition AND expenses? What is the total amount? Congrats. This is perhaps the best award news I have heard.
I’m wondering if anyone here did decide on Wooster and how their freshman year is going?
Yes my daughter attends Wooster! We are from the Chicago area, so it’s about a 7 hour drive for us. She has had a wonderful first semester. She loves the kids she has met, her classes were quite demanding but interesting (she studied a lot and wrote A LOT of essays, but she is humanities not STEM), the professors are wonderful. The campus is beautiful. She is very happy there, it was a very good fit for her. She was worried about the social life at such a small campus. She isn’t a partier, but she wanted to have opportunities to go out and have fun, and she’s been pleasantly surprised with the social life. She was the last person you would have expected to join a sorority, but she joined a low key one that she really likes. She’s a dancer and was part of the dance production this past fall. Next semester she plans on getting involved with a couple other clubs. I can tell you that a few of the dorms have real issues and need to be upgraded, although she isn’t in one of them, fortunately. Also, the food is not great, but I think that is largely bc of reduced options while Lowry is under construction (the new dining hall should be open by next fall '22). But those are things that haven’t detracted from her overall experience, which seems to be very positive. If you have specific questions, let me know!
Thank you so much for the feedback! We are also from the Chicago area (NW suburbs) and I was shocked to see a wooster sticker on the back of a van at a busy intersection near my house the other day. I wanted to jump out of my car and talk to them.
Can they pick a dorm or is it randomly assigned? Less the dancing, my daughter sounds like yours when it comes to partying etc. That’s very reassuring.
I appreciate it!
Ha, that’s funny, maybe it was us! They cannot pick their dorm, both the dorm and their roommate is randomly assigned.
If your daughter wants to get in touch with my daughter to ask her questions, just send me a message, I’ll be happy to pass along her info.
My daughter just finished her first semester as well and loved it! The school is a great fit fir her. Echoing the sentiment above her one complaint was about the quality/variety of the food in the dining halls, but she is hopeful it will improve next year with Lowry reopening.
