Word length for Transfer personal statement on common app?

<p>Hi!
I am writing a personal essay on the common app on my reasons for transferring. It says the minimum number of words should be 250, but i don't want to write on and on and bore them out by the end of the essay. So what is a good word range?</p>

<p>I was told a little over 25o was the best length. But i am nearing 800 here. is it that bad? It did say 250 minimum</p>

<p>I think mine was about 650 words or so. My target word count was 500 words, because that’s how long the common app essay should have been for freshmen. I would suggest keeping the essay to one page in length.</p>
